If legislation currently before the House is approved, it would change the date of redistribution to the beginning of April. Reed isn't about to jump the gun on where he'll place his name because the legislation may not pass. "T expect this (legislation) will probably happen but I've learned over the years not to start counting my chickens. We've had legislation take nine years to get through the house," he said with a chuckle. A lifelong Norval resident, Reed began his political career as a Liberal MPP in the mid 1970s under former Conservative Premier Bill Davis. He retired briefly in the early 1990s, then shifted to the federal Liberals about 10 years ago. Redistribution will split my riding so I'll have to" choose," Reed said. I'll have to decide whether to run in the Halton riding I've served for ten years, or whether to go in the north (Wellington-Halton Hills)." What' s Your Beef? Put it in a letter to the Editor! Meadvale Road resident Kurt Bowman said he was attacked without provocation as he walked past the dog on January 10. "T got away lucky," Bowman said on Monday, adding the dog's teeth ripped his coat sleeve and left bruises on his wrist and a scratch on his hand. "T was out for my walk and I was on the sidewalk by the house and the dog comes tearing out at me and he's attached to my arm," Bowman said. "He was growling and had his teeth clamped down tight on my wrist while he tried to pull me over," he said, adding the dog made a second lunge at him, but backed off when Bowman raised his arms in defence. Bowman didn't learn the dog was missing until a Halton Health Department official telephoned him on Friday to say they couldn't put the dog in a mandatory 10-day quarantine because they couldn't find it. "The owners aren't being responsible," Bowman said, adding he hopes the dog is deemed dangerous under the Town's Responsible Pet Owners Bylaw. On Tuesday, Town bylaw enforcement officer Bob Ustrzycki said they are still trying to locate the dog and conduct interviews, adding the German Shepherd was already under investigation for two earlier attacks. The owners have until today (Thursday) to appeal the dangerous designation order they were served with last Thursday. If they appeal, the onus is on them to try to convince the Town's community affairs committee the dog is not dangerous. If there is no appeal, the dangerous dog designation is confirmed, and the owner must meet a number of conditions to keep the dog. It must be muzzled and leashed if let outside, and must be locked in a pen with warning signs when outside. The owner must carry liability insurance, attend obedience training with the dog and notify the Town if the dog dies, runs away or is Men's arn 1DecoKakr om or Lappy THURSDAYS Ladies "Wine Bar" Manicure "Black Jack Table" Manicure INCLUDES DRINKS AND SNACKS Appointments recommended given away or if the owner moves. Asked if the public is in danger because the whereabouts of the dog is unknown, Ustrzycki said while the German Shepherd has a propensity to bite, the severity of the bites is "low," and none of the victims were "mauled' or required stitches. "This isn't like we have a killer running out there at this point in time," Ustrzycki said, Man bitten by German Shepherd which now can't be located adding, "I want to avoid any unnecessary public alarm." He said other agencies including the police, Humane Society and health department had been notified the dog is missing. Bowman insists the German Shepherd should have been deemed dangerous after the first attack, and now people should be alerted that there is a dangerous dog on the loose. Ship?
