THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 2004 THE NEW ZANIES 15 Milayor's Corner By Rick Bonnette On behalf of Council, I am pleased to announce that Aero Metals is Halton Hills' newest manufacturer. The company, owned by Halton Hills resident Paul Colacci, is setting up operations in a 10,000 square foot building on -the Fifth Line in Limehouse. Aero Metals manufactures a revolutionary new product, 'foamed aluminum' that is light in weight, strong, and fire proof. Many different consumer and industrial prod- ucts can be made from 'foamed aluminum' includ- ing ceiling tiles, fire rated wall panels, and parts for the automobile and aircraft in- dustries.. The product is cost competitive with standard products that lack the strength and fire rating of the Aero Metals product. The company is working with the University of To- ronto in product development. Ultimately, Areo Metals intends to ex- pand to larger premises, and use the Limehouse facility for research and product devel- opment. Initially the facility will employ 15 workers, but this number will grow as full production is phased in. Tam-extremely proud to extend congratulations to each of the recipients of the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce 2003 Business Achievement Awards - Mike _ Mavraganis, Entrepreneur of the Year (Topper's Pizza); Karen Landry, Employee of the Year (Town of Halton Hills); and J. S. Jones & Son Funeral Home Ltd., (Business of the Year). It is an honour to also con- gratulate Mr. Carson Mininch, this year's Georgetown Hockey Herit- age Award recipient. Carson has been involved in the sport of hockey over the past 25 years in our community as a volunteer, coach, and member of the Georgetown Minor Hockey Association execu- tive. The Georgetown Hockey Heritage Awards Dinner was held on Monday, March | at Holy Cross Audi- torium. As this column goes to print, the 2004 Budget should be officially approved. Budget deliberations were the most difficult in recent years. The budget increase is 5.8%, which equates to a $48.00 per household tax increase. The upgrade of our roads is para- mount, and this is the first year that 2% of your tax dol- lars was earmarked to go- directly to road repairs. Moving on from Commu- nities in Bloom, J am pleased to announce that a new initia- tive "Town and Country Showcase" is presently in the planning stages, and this year's event will take place on June 19. Being volunteer driven, and at little or no cost to our taxpayers, this day will be an opportunity to show- case our community and civic pride. The day promises to bean exciting one as our mu- nicipality plays host to tours and activities. Trails, parks, and local tourist attractions will all be highlighted. Watch this column for further de- tails. Food for soul often lacking To the Editor, I wonder if your newspaper could search for the perfect child? Will parents say?... "T'm not bragging, but I've raised him/her the best way I could, so I have one as plese to perfect as any." "From babyhood on my child had the very best care, food, education, learned fair play at sports, and even had special classes to discover any talents so as to produce a well-rounded person. "J only wish..." The only Missing Ingredi- ent in this usual Canadian up- bringing of today's child is no secret. Yet it is not included. Since a human being is com- posed of mind, body and soul; food for the soul is lacking. Yet there are numerous books, studies, which can fill this void.
