President George O'Donnell has asked me to thank all the members, family and friends who turned out last Sunday to help plant the flowers on the veterans' graves at Fairview Cemetery. A special thank you to the Branch Ladies Auxiliary, and the ladies of the IODE. Recent visitors to the Branch will have noticed the D-Day posters in the club room; these were the work of students at St. Alban's Church School. To them we give our sincere thanks. At last Monday's general meeting Helen VanOpstal was the lucky winner of a free membership in 2005, The Provincial Service Of- ficer will be visiting our area on Wednesday, July 21. Our annual pot-luck picnic was held at the home of Helen Jocque with 11 mem- bers present. Everyone enjoyed the good food and camaraderie. President Ernestine Foster opened our meeting with the prayer for the Order and the Flag Salute. Joyce Sprowl and Helen Jocque reported on the 84" Provincial Annual meeting they attended in Niagara Falls in April. Decoration Day is Jun® 6 and IODE is placing flowers on graves of deceased mem- bers. This is in conjunction with the Acton Branch of the Royal Capadian Legion. Final plans were made for our Giant Yard Sale to be held June 12 at the Home of Helen Jocque -- corner of Highway 25 and Regional Road 12, one mile south of Acton. This is one of our major.fund rais- ers for the year. There will be bargains galore; BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers; hot and cold drinks; and a fish bowl for the kids. There will be something for everyone to buy. We have a rain date of June 19-but we are thinking positively for the 12". Our next meeting will be Sept. 7. We are looking forward to a pleasant summer arid wish the same for the community.
