In the second instance, the suspect was able to fraudulently withdraw $1,000 from an Acton man's account. Police report five other similar incidents have been reported to them recently where debit cards belonging to local residents were fraudulently used to obtain an un- specified amount of cash. The banks will reimburse all of the Ac- ton residents for the money that was fraudently withdrawn from their accounts. Police will not comment on where the debit cards belonging to the Acton vic- tims may have been compromised. Police caution people to be wary when using their bank cards and to protect their cards and PIN numbers.Police said one way to check to see if your bank card has been compromised is to key in an incor- rect PIN when making a purchase. If the transaction goes through, you know there is a problem that should be reported to your bank and police.
