To the Editor, I am greatly disturbed to have seen page 10 in your November 4 issue displaying a hunter holding up a dead deer! I understand hunting is a "sport", though I don't sup- port it one bit. But why is it necessary to share with the regular viewers of your paper such_a sad innocent animal blasted to its death? A simple statement on hunting and driving precautions was all that was needed to notify and remind the public. The picture was totally uncalled for. Disappointed reader, L. I work in one of the retail stores in this area. Beside our store is a private laneway leading to a park- ing area for five tenants, patrons of two stores and our employees. On three different occasions that I know of people have cho- sen to park their car right in this laneway completely blocking all access to the parking area. After a search for the car's owner begins they usually are found saunter- ing back to cars where we will let them know they are blocking a driveway. The response is always "I was only gone for a few min- utes." I wonder how mad they would be if returning home they found a car parked in front of their driveway. The other interesting in- cident happened on Tuesday when I noticed a car parked outside of our store in a no parking zone, and blocking the driveway. It was the parking enforce- ment officer's car left there while ticketing cars. I did not find the irony funny. Please, everyone, use the designated parking areas. They are not that inconven- ient. If we are asking the customers of our town to use them surely the parking enforcement officers should use them as well. Steve Attwell, Acton Teacher's comments instilled greater respect for Day To the Editor, When school kids still got Remembrance Day off, I re- member my grade 11 music teacher, in the last few min- utes of class telling us to have a good day offand that he was glad we had noth- ing to remember. He reminisced about his family who were refugee Germans in Russia and had to flee for their lives across Europe to get to Canada. He saw the atrocities of the war-ravaged country- side, saw his mother's face frozen on one side and a sis- ter frozen to death. He contracted T.B. of the bone which left him deeply scarred. He caught me off guard with saying he was glad we had nothing to re- member. It first seemed disrespectful, but, in doing so, he instilled in me a deeper respect for those that protected and secured what we have today.
