DEADLINE IS MONDAY AT 12 NOON ON THE PUCK: Dylan Britton steals the puck in House League hockey last weekend at Acton arena. - Photo by Scott Legge By Monica Galway Holy moly what a goalie! - the first shut-out of the year for Mason Overland. The Acton Atom AE Tanners played a great game on Wednesday with 15 shots on net Mason had a great team in front of him. The boys pulled it to- gether having only 16 shots on goal themselves they got one by the goalie in the first to set the tone for the game and won 2-0. Billy Mowat assisted by Carter Ebbinge opened the scoring in the first. Then came Carter Ebbinge again in the second to get the fi- nal goal of the game with Wyatt Martin and Damian Ewing assisting. The Elora team is a tough bunch of boys and they played a rough game. Rubbing off on our play- ers Dylan Bickers got a Mason Overland Unbeatable Atom Tanners post two wins penalty for roughing, but the boys didn't allow a goal for the 2-0 win and the first shut-out of the year. Back to Acton on Sun- day the Tanners came out fighting. With ten seconds left in the first period Wyatt Martin got his first ina while the goal post and cross bar seem to be his target lately. The Bickers brothers Dylan and David got the assists on the goal. The Bulls also held Elora to NO shots on goal in the first period. The second period found Carter Ebbinge getting the final goal of the game Tough Arthur club downs Peewees 4-1 The Acton Tanners Peewee AE team, travelled to Arthur on Tuesday, No- vember 16to play a tough, hard hitting team, which won the game. Although it was Acton who drew the first penalty of the game they remained undaunted as they also marked the first goal of the game. From the face off, Acton's Roger Kirkness carried the puck over the blue line, passed the Arthur defence for an unassisted goal to the top left corner of the net to put Acton on the board. _- While Acton attempted to remain tough, by the start of the third period they started to feel the ef- fects of the checks and sticks of a much larger and stronger Arthur team. Final score of the game was 4 to | for Arthur. Aqua Ducks enjoy new Orangeville swim facilities Acton Aqua Ducks en- joyed a day of competition at the new Hallmark Toyota Aquatic facility in Orangeville. It is quite a nice pool, reports head coach Gerry Ockenden. It's a great place to race with plenty of deck space for everyone and an el- evated viewing gallery that accommodates 200 spectators. Age group coach Julie Matthews brought five new competitive swim- mers with her to the meet and was happy to report their performances were up to expectations. They again, with Jonathon Paquin-Felske getting the assists. Even with a two- man advantage at the end of the second, Elora still couldn't put it past Over- land. With Billy Mowat and Mason Galway both getting the interference call they still couldn't get to Overland. Going into the third no one would dare say the S word. But with two more penalties from Dylan Bickers for hooking and Michael Fatrdla for rough- ing after the whistle, Mason had to keep his chifi up. Once again Elora pulled the goalie and tried to get a goal but the boys wanted the second shut-out of the year for their goalie, and it seemed to be the way it was going to end. Once again 2-0 for the Tanners and #2 of the year for Overland. have now established some personal best times that will serve as a bench mark for future successes.
