During regular business hours ask for beach information, after regular business hours press 2 for health information, then press 3 for current recorded beach information. s WNV IN BLUE JAY Another bird -- the eighth in Halton -- was confirmed positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) on Thursday, August 11. A blue jay tested positive for WNV in Halton which also found one mosquito pool with the virus. At this time Halton Health Dept. is concentrating on findings from mosquito trapping rather than dead birds but the department says bird data may still provide helpful supplemental information. TROTTIER COMING Inside Edge Pro Sports is looking for- ward to having Hockey Hall of Famer Bryan Trottier in the east end Acton Mar- ket Plaza store on Thursday, September 15. Trottier will be signing autographs and be available for photos at a time not yet detetmined. The talented NHLer was on six Stanley Cup teams, is the 12" lead- ing all-time scorer, and won the Calder, Hart, Art Ross and Conn Smythe trophies during his years in uniform. Items may be purchased with cash or cheque with proper identification. JUMPSTART PROGRAM A local (Halton Hills) chapter of Jump- Start was formed this spring with partners from the Town, the Region, Herbal Magic, Acton and the Georgetown Bread Basket and the Optimist Club along with Georgetown Canadian Tire's Foundation for Families. Customers at Canadian Tire will be asked to contribure $2 to Jump- Start through September and they will receive a red tennis ball branded with the JumpStart logo. The local chapter has been able to as- sist a number of children to access local programs such as soccer, baseball and kung-fu. Financial support was allocated to approximately 22 children for the spring/summer season. The fall/winter season will bring an additional opportu- nity to apply. Deadline for applications from a child's school is August 30.
