DEADLINE IS MONDAY AT 12 NOON Squirt Girls' bats boom in last inning but little too late By Vicki Anderson _ The year has come and gone so fast, Shopper's Drug- mart Squirt Girls arrives at Diamond No. 2 for their final game against Pon- sonby for double points. Katrina Harding started on the mound. And did a great job, not walking one batter. Ponsonby is a good hitting team, which we like; it gives the rest of our team a chance to make plays. And by mak- ing plays they get the outs. Desiray Ebbinge took over after three innings and she was super as well. Desiray even took a line drive to her shin. Nice bruise, Ray. Miranda Rodda made a super catch in centre field. Katie Patchett (shortstop) and Ashley Stokman (3rd) both charged grounders and made throws to Karla McDougall on first for the outs. Karla also got an out by herself tonight. Laura Labelio(2nd) also DROWN YOUR ean CAMPFIRES ARE THE LEADING CAUSE | OF PREVENTABLE WILDFIRES IN ONTARIO. Dace nade 8 Boe a toss to Kristine ris_on_ first "tor the outs As for out bats, oh my! They stayed pretty quiet for the first four innings. We only got 2 runs total. But in the final inning....BANG!!! The girls broke out of their shells. Going through every batter and three girls got up twice in the inning. There were walks, but Ashley Stokman started hitting in runs with bases loaded and she hits a single. Then Desiray Ebbinge gets a single. Then Kristine Ferri, who finally got her first. single. in.the fourth in- ning. In this inning she gets a double. We were losing 18 - 3, but we rallied in the fifth getting 9 runs. The game ended up 18 - 12 and gave Pon- sonby a little scare which was exciting. Well, now on to the final tournament this weekend in Ponsonby. Wish us luck! HOCKEY Ce VR EEL 2 NO HANDS!
