Charles Al- lan Lauder died at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on Sunday, July 24 in his 94" year. "Al" Lauder as he was known in Acton, where he lived from 1960 to 1968, was an industrial chemist who later entered the minis- try when the family moved to Portage la Prairie. At Portage he served as a United Church minister at the Long Plain Reserve, later with the Presbyterian Church at the Dakota Tipo Reserve and at Westbourne, Manitoba. Rey. Charles Allan Lauder During his eight years in Acton he was an active member of the Acton Lions Club and rose to the position of Zone Chairman. The fam- ily lived on Tidey Ave. Al Lauder's hobbies in- cluded painting nature, drawing and gardening. He enjoyed composing, writing - and composing 15 hymns, 35 songs and many poems not yet set to music. Funeral service was today (Thursday) at Portage la Prairie. He leaves his wife Doreen and two daughters, Gwen Matthew of Auck- land, New Zealand, and Nancy Wharram of Winni- peg, a brother, Dr. Douglas Lauder of London, Ont., and a sister, Elise Brydon of Toronto as well as several grandchildren.
