Ninth Line repairs, Trafalgar Sports Park not part of 2006 plans Continued from pg. 1 Sometime in the next nine years, council may spend money on new library branches for Georgetown and Acton, a new arena, and lots of roads including Main St. in Georgetown in 2007 and Main St. in Acton in 2009. Despite pleas from Ninth Line residents Monday night to move their road to the 2006 budget year, budget committee kept the repairs in the 2008 capital budget. Committee also withdrew spending of $500,000 on the Trafalgar Rd. Sports Park after the Georgetown Soccer Club withdrew its $100,000 contribution. No money will be spent on the park this year. Budget committee also added $108,000 for Civic Centre improvements, including moving the archive section to a storage facility. Committee also added $18,000 for an irrigation system for the Dominion Gardens Park, but removed $18,000 for an equipment-deodorizing machine, which the Recreation Department had hoped would eventually become a revenue-generating operation. Committee also approved a new transit system for those with disabilities or over the age of 65 that included the purchase of a $60,000 mini-van. Council must formally approve the capital budget and forecast, which is expected to be done at the Feb. 6 council meeting.
