HHCSI gala to champion youth Dance the night away to the `50s, `60s and `70s music of Rolly Rocker and the Hemi Heads at Halton Hills Community Support and Information's 6th Annual Champions for Youth Gala on Saturday, March 4 at North Halton Golf and Country Club. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., where guests will be able to start bidding on items at the silent auction tables. A martini bar will be offered and guests will be treated with hot hors d'oeuvres while listening to the classical guitar of Brent Cooper and Don Ablett of Riverbend. Co-hosts, Josey Bonnette and Bryan Lewis, will take you through the evening which will include a three-course dinner and raffles which include the following prizes: · first prize, first class VIA Rail tickets for two (return) to Ottawa, including a two-night stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel, downtown Ottawa · second prize, lunch or dinner for two at Woodbine or Mohawk Racetrack · third prize: basket of fine wines · fourth prize: dinner for two at Tanners Restaurant in Acton Raffle tickets are currently available at HHCSI's Georgetown and Acton offices. Guests can then dance the night away to music performed by Rolly Rocker and the Hemi Heads. This local band will present a tribute dedicated to the classic music of days gone by. The show will consist of three sets, each reflecting on a different era. Their aim is to give the audience the sound of the three classic rock eras. When the evening is over, proceeds from the event will go to HHCSI's youth programs, which operate out of Open Door Youth Centre in Georgetown and Off The Wall Youth Centre in Acton. Open Door and Off the Wall Youth Centres provide support to youth, aged 9-19, in a caring, non-judgmental, safe and friendly environment. Qualified youth workers provide supervision, a listening ear, guidance and resources for various youth issues. Youth have somewhere to go and something to do. The youth workers also provide individual support to youth through information, referral support and guidance outside of youth centre hours; Parents receive access information, referral, support and guidance during and outside of youth centre hours, and HHCSI youth staff working with other agencies (eg. Town of Halton Hills, Public Health, police, ADAPT etc.) can provide more resources for youth and parents in Halton Hills. A sustaining youth program enables youth to develop a positive lifestyle by developing strategies to deal with life's challenges and aids in the development of leadership skills and responsible citizenry.
