Power Zone holds Fun Run for CAShh Power Zone Fitness Centre is holding a St. Patrick's Day Fun Run for Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills on Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m. Cathy Gallagher, the event organizer and sales manager of the Power Zone, urges residents of Halton Hills to join in the fundraising efforts that ensure local cancer patients receive special care. Residents are encouraged to come out to the 5K power walk, jog or run at The Power Zone Fitness Centre, 324 Guelph Street, Suite 10, Georgetown (between Tim Hortons and Swiss Chalet). This event is open to members and non-members of The Power Zone. Tim Hortons is supplying the coffee and muffins. St. Andrew's joins `Night of a Thousand Dinners' On Sunday, March 26, St. Andrew's United Church will host its annual Spaghetti Supper to help save the lives of people living in landmine-affected areas. While dining together on spaghetti, salads, and desserts, area residents can join in a global event, known as "Night of a Thousand Dinners" to raise awareness and resources for the international landmine crisis. Everyone is welcome to attend this event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and $15 per family. St. Andrew's is located at 89 Mountainview Rd. S. in Georgetown. Every year, approximately 20,000 people are killed or maimed by landmines, and according to UNICEF, 30-40% of all mine victims are children. There are currently 50-80 million active landmines buried in the ground of more than 80 countries. Proceeds from St. Andrew's Spaghetti Supper will go to the global Adopt-A-Minefield campaign to remove landmines and assist landmine survivors. Fashion show/dinner to aid groups The Rotary Club of Georgetown and Studio 49 present a Fashion Show and Dinner at Glencairn Golf Club on Regional Rd. 25, just north of Steeles Ave. Proceeds go to Willow Park Ecology Centre, Habitat for Humanity Halton's Georgetown project and Rotary Club community programs.
