Photo by Sabrina Byrnes Murr tourney May 8 The 22nd-annual Paul Murr Memorial Golf Tournament will take place Monday, May 8 at Acton's Blue Springs course and organizers hope to surpass last year's best-ever fund-raising total. A $50,000 donation was made to the Acton branch of the Canadian Cancer Society after the 2005 event, bringing the 21-year total raised by the tournament to $543,000. There are three different tournament packages to choose from for this year's tourney, which is expected to draw approximately 260 participants. For more info call John McNabb at 519-853-5615. Umps needed for ball leagues New and experienced umpires are needed for slopitch and baseball for the 2006 season in Halton Hills. Umpires are required for local high school afternoon games and adult evening slo-pitch leagues. Training and insurance will be provided. Goodtimers claim 2006 HHHL title The Georgetown Goodtimers upset the reigning-champion Bruins 3-1 in the final game of the Halton Hills Hockey League's playoffs last week on third-period goals by Tim Diardichuck, Peter Mashinter and Sandy Davidson. After finishing second during the regular season, the Goodtimers defeated The Beavers 16-2 in the first round of the post-season, then avenged a semi-final loss to The Phantoms last year with a 4-1 victory this time around to earn a berth in the HHHL championship, thanks to a hat trick by Shane Thompson and the clincher by Davidson.
