She was also fifth in the discus at 19.20m. Ricky Davids was edged out for first place in the senior boys' high jump by just three centimetres as his last successful jump was at 1.78m. Also making it to the St. Catharines meet from Georgetown were: Marie Keenie (5th in midget girls' 3,000m, 13:08.88); Kodi Veenstra (3rd in junior girls' triple jump, 8.45m); Jas Olah (2nd in junior girls' discus, 22.64m & 4th in shot put, 8.24m); Carolyn Hyde (4th in senior girls' 3,000m, 14:10.33); Aaron Hnatiw (4th in junior boys' javelin, 33.25m); Lorne Thomas (5th in junior boys' javelin, 27.25m); Byron Hackett (3rd in senior boys' triple jump, 11.58m). Bigg, a member of the Bearcats track team, placed third in both the Junior Boys 800 and 1500 while Essiembre placed second in the junior girls shot put and fifth in junior girls discus. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Luke Ovenden and Olivia Martyniuk. Ovenden, a member of the Rebels golf team played the lowest score of the entire team, playing a 75 at Hidden Lake Golf Course in Burlington. Martyniuk, a centre mid-fielder on the senior Rebels girls soccer team, was chosen for her leadership as captain in a 3-2 win over MDHS. Christ the King High School Athletes of the Week are Matt George and Kelly Laidlaw. George, who plays goalie on the Jaguars junior soccer team, was selected for his strong game against Iroquois Ridge. In spite of the fact CtK lost, both goals were scored against George in penalty shots. Laidlaw, who plays mid-field for the jaguars junior soccer team, was chosen for her strong team play and leadership against St. Thomas Aquines. Second baseman Shannon Rolanty of Christ the King's Jaguars just misses making a force-out on a Bishop Reding runner in their high school girls' softball contest Tuesday afternoon at the Georgetown Fairgrounds. After a shaky start, the host Jaguars rallied for a 14-12 triumph and improved their record to 3-1-1 heading into Thursday afternoon's game with the 5-0-0 Georgetown Rebels.
