Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 13 ENTERTAINMENT James Gordon headlines Riverfest-Norval concert Nationally known James Gordon tops a huge list of musical talent at Riverfest-Norval on Sunday, June 4 at the Willow Park Ecology Centre. At 3 p.m., Gordon with more than a dozen CDs to his credit, will reprise many of his legendary original songs especially tied in with the Riverfest 2006 theme of w-a-t-e-r. His children's albums, No Grownups Allowed and Bouncy, Bouncy are well known to the younger generation. Nonie Crete opens the musical entertainment for the festival at the pavilion in Willow Park (the downstairs stage) at 12:30 p.m. She has a warm rich voice, plays guitar and harmonica and composes contemporary and traditional folk, Celtic, country and acoustic blues. She will surely include Where the Credit River Flows, especially dedicated to the Willow Park Ecology Centre. Families will be especially interested in the children's entertainment provided by Chris McKhool, hailed as Canada's greatest eco-troubadour for young people, and Sheri and Jerry Tallon, international children's recording artists and family entertainers. Neva Tesolin and Jeff Hale of Stewed Roots from St. Catharines, present a tasty blend of folk, blues, and old-time country with a pinch of cajun to liven things up. To give the festival a funky, country and western sound, Washboard Hank, all the way from Peterborough, will play a truly amazing conglomeration of bells, license plates, duck calls, etc., and actually get music out of it. Other styles and content will be provided by: · Matthew Genovese,17, singing his original rock and blues tunes · Michael Kelly from Kitchener, who focuses on country and western, Irish and Scottish music · Brampton's Bruce Madole and Acton's Wendi Hunter, who conjure up stories and moods, ballads and love songs · Local groups and bands such as Neil & Sean Cotton, Jim-Bob, the Thordykes and the No-Name Band round out the talent for the festival day.
