The 19-year-old was happy to have moved to Georgetown a month ago to be with her mom Heather Eagleson. She loved the town and was excited about the new job she landed at Tim Hortons. She was eagerly awaiting her first pay cheque to come in so she could help her mom out with some bills. But all of Houle's plans are now on hold after she was hit by a vehicle at Normandy Blvd. and Guelph St. shortly after 11 p.m. Friday, May 19 while riding her bicycle home from a training shift at the Mountainview Rd. Tim Hortons. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, leaving Houle lying seriously injured on the side of the road. She slipped in and out of consciousness, her hip was broken, her skull fractured, she suffered pelvic fractures and her right foot was badly strained from being caught in the chain and spokes of her bike. Both Houle and her mom are outraged the driver left the scene. "If he had been drinking, or had no insurance, or whatever reason made him drive away that night, at the very least you would have thought (out of) decency he would have gone down the road and anonymously called 911 from a pay phone or something," says Eagleson. "He just left her there for dead." Houle says after the accident she kept asking herself why this happened. "I don't get it. I hadn't done anything. My life is so normal and I was doing great. I got a good job, and I got to live with my mom again," says Houle from her bed at Georgetown Hospital Monday. "I think it's irresponsible. You shouldn't be doing that to anyone. You should be responsible for how you're driving." They urge the driver to come forward.
