Eye full: Art Salon 2006 opens at Williams Mill In a swap of show styles, the Williams Mill Gallery in Glen Williams is holding an eclectic, wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling show of original art, reminiscent of the Parisian salons of the 1930s. An "eye full" of 2D art in every size, style, and price by established and emerging artists of the area will cover the walls with little space to spare between each piece. The artists involved will have a chance to exhibit a broader selection of their work than the one or two pieces a regular group show allows. "The quality and the calibre of the artists involved will appeal to the most discerning of collectors," says gallery owner Mary Lou Brock, "but the variety of style and size should guarantee that there is something for everyone. My hope is that visitors to our gallery won't fall in love with the work of just one artist, but of many!" The exhibit's launch reception will be held on Saturday, June 10, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The exhibit will continue until Sunday, Sept. 10. To reinforce the fun and more casual aspect of "eye full" Art Salon 2006, one of the Mill's artists, Christine Montague, designed a promotional "art" button to be given as a bonus with purchase while the supply lasts. Montague is the recent recipient of a juror's award at the John Sommer Juried Show in the Halton Hill Cultural Centre Gallery and the second prize winner for her lifesize portrait of a Lorne Scots in Oakville's Artworks Juried Show. Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre is home to over 30 artists' open studios in restored heritage buildings, in Glen Williams. The centre, 11 years old and in its first year as a non-profit organization, has the philosophy of making art accessible to everyone. Artists work in acrylic, oil, watercolour, printmaking, stone sculpture, glass blowing, architectural stained glass, fibre art, silver jewellery, graphic design and more. For more details contact gallery@williamsmill.com or www.williamsmill.com. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday. 12-5 p.m.
