Get a Taste of Acton on Saturday This Saturday, downtown Acton will be a hub of activity for the annual A Taste Of Acton, 12-4 p.m. The first two blocks of Mill Street will be closed to traffic but there will be lots of offstreet parking available. There will be a classic car show from 12-4 p.m. and historical walking tours with restaurant sampling. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Acton BIA office, 16 Mill St. E., 519-8539555. Tickets will also be available at Blue Springs Spa & Salon, Acton Optical and Profile Hair Salon. Space is limited, so call for your tickets soon. There will be balloons for the kids, as well as clowns, face painting and pony rides. Potted geraniums will be given to the first 50 customers of any downtown business. There will be a free draw for an autographed tool belt and photograph of Mike Holmes from the TV show Holmes on Homes, plus a draw for two tickets to Yuk Yuks International Stand-Up Comedy Show. Merchants will also be holding sidewalk sales. Acton is one of the last small towns in the GTA, so why not come and experience our small town charm. In Acton, visitors will find surprising shops and boutiques. You can browse in shops specializing in handmade porcelain dolls, country giftware, children's specialty clothing, leather clothing and furniture. This is a perfect place to start your search for unique gifts, antiques, or clothing. Remember, it's worth the drive to Acton. Speech Centre donates kits In recognition of Better Speech and Hearing Month (May), special education and resource students at Georgetown District Christian School will enjoy the benefits of better learning tools as Halton Hills Speech Centre donated learning kits.
