Compost Give-Away sets new donation record Halton Region collected 7.6 tonnes of food and a record $9,545 at the spring Compost Give-Away held earlier this year. More than 4,700 residents brought food or monetary donations in exchange for compost created at the Halton Waste Management Site in Milton. The food and cash donations were divided equally between the eight municipal food banks within Halton, including Georgetown Bread Basket and Acton FoodShare. Another Compost Give-Away will be held in the fall. Police auction set for Saturday Bicycles, tools, jewelry and digital cameras are just some of the items that will be for sale at the Halton Regional Police Service Auction Saturday, July 15. The auction will be held at Halton Police headquarters, 1151 Bronte Rd., Oakville in the underground garage. The preview will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., with the auction to start at 9:30 a.m. No pets are welcome, only special needs dogs. Cash or cheques, with identification will be accepted.
