Clerk's Department seeks to confirm voters' citizenship for Nov. 13 election Are you Canadian? That's what a recent letter, sent to some Halton Hills voters, is asking. The preliminary list of electors for the November 13 municipal election, provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), identifies a number of individuals with unconfirmed citizenship. The Clerk's Department of the Town of Halton Hills-- which is in charge of the elections-- has sent a letter to the affected residents. Town Clerk Karen Landry said the letters were sent to ensure all the names of qualified electors would appear on the voters' list. "We appreciate the co-operation of the voters in taking the time to provide the necessary information to update the voters' list," said Landry. If you received a letter, sign the declaration stating that you are a Canadian citizen and return it to the Town of Halton Hills Clerk's Office, 1 Halton Hills Drive, Halton Hills, ON L7G 5G2. This will ensure that a Voter Notification Card is sent to you, Landry said. The Voter Notification Card provides important information regarding the dates, times and locations for Voting. Alternatively, residents may choose to add their name to the voters' list at a later date by completing an Application to Amend the Voters' List starting Tuesday, Sept. 5 up to and including election day. For more information call Landry, 905-873-2601, ext. 2331 or Kelly Withers, legislative assistant, 905-873-2601, ext. 2330.
