Proud grandparents are Brian and Sheila Hicks and Donata and the late Marco Iacobucci. WHALEN (nee Dodge), Annette Elizabeth (Betsy) Peacefully in her sleep at her cherished home, on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her dearly loved husband of 45 years, Dr. John (Jack) Whalen, and by her beloved son, Peter. Loving mother of Carol and her husband Charles Street of Aurora, John and his wife Christine of Vancouver, Terry and his wife Sandra of Georgetown and daughter-in-law, Beverly Funnell, of Mississauga. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kerry, Cassandra, James, Timothy, Kelsey, Liam, Jared and Alyssa and her great grandchild, Emaleen. Predeceased by her sisters Olive Dodge and Dorothy Bridgland. Betsy passed away within hours of another beloved sister, Alice Jamieson. Betsy was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario. She lived most of her married life in Toronto, with hiatuses during Dr. Jack's army years and various medical residencies and locums, in Montreal, Portage La Prairie and Sudbury. Betsy's passion for skiing, the outdoors, painting, art, music, travel and the family cottage was exceeded only by her affection for her family. She was a prolific and successful artist, eliciting much joy from her craft, attending lessons and organized art excursions, foreign and domestic. Betsy occupied a variety of leading executive roles in the Humber Valley and Etobicoke Art Clubs over the years. A graduate (Music) of Victoria College, U of T, Betsy was an active member of the Hospital for Sick Children Women's Auxiliary, Humber Valley United Church choir and the University Women's Club for many years. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (attention: Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund) would be appreciated.
