Georgetown Choral Society holds open rehearsal night on Monday JENNIFER VANDERDRIFT Georgetown Choral Society Do you have a love for music and happen to be free on Monday evenings? Why not join your community choral group, the Georgetown Choral Society for its 2006-2007 season! This year will be our one of our best as we perform a Boston Pops-style family Christmas concert consisting of traditional favourites. Joining us will be our very own Georgetown District High School Jazz Band. Last year they brought home the gold from the Canada's National Music Festival. In the spring, the choir will be performing a concert consisting of a mix of selections for our concert abroad to Ireland. A spring concert will be held locally prior to the group's departure in late May. Provided space is available, new members will be welcome to join us on the trip! Sound like an exciting season? All you have to do is come for an open rehearsal on Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, Main St., Georgetown. Rehearsals are held every Monday evening at Knox from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Those who would like to join will be asked to do a short audition to determine voice range and quality. Male voices especially welcome. For more information visit, www.georgetownchoral.ca. Artists to create works to raise charity funds Sara Bergsma of Bergsma's Home Decor in Milton and performer Kelly MacIntyre, both artists, are doing a joint venture called C2 Art from the Heart, which will be running year round at Bergsma's Home Decor Store in Milton. C2 is an exclusive line of paint the Bergsma carries. Sara chooses specific interior color palette and Kelly creates an original mixed media/acrylic paintings to match in each of the chosen palettes. The names of each piece are created from the name of one of the color's used. Each of the paintings is signed with a cream heart signifying that it is an original C2 Art from the Heart piece. The purchaser then receives a tax receipt for half the purchase price and that money is donated to a charity of their choice. They receive a special thank you note and a picture of their art is added to a binder with a note of where the funds went. They also receive a laminated card for their purse or wallet with a small picture of the painting and on the back are small color chips with the numbers of the colors used in the piece so when they are shopping for accessories they have the exact colors with them. They can also paint their room any of the colors and the paintings match exactly. Themes for the paintings include florals, people, boats, beaches.... each one unique. Since launching this venture two paintings had proceeds going to Weekend to End Breast Cancer. For more information go to www.kellymacintyre.ca or www.bergsmashomedecor.com
