Legion Ladies honour their own ANN FELKER Georgetown Legion Ladies Auxiliary On September 16th, our auxiliary celebrated our 78th Birthday Supper, Honours and Awards Dinner. Comrade Marjorie Tuty, chairman of Honours and Awards and Comrade Nellie Scheeringa, chairman of the Birthday Supper along with their respective committees, through their hard work had everything well organized. Comrade Marion Carney handed out the door prize and we thank all of these ladies for a job well done. Service pins were awarded to the following: 40-year: Marg Clarke 35-year: Jean Foster, Dorothy Ireland, Daphne Rolfe and Ada Ward 30-year: Elizabeth McNeilly, Vera Farndale, Leanne Reid, Lauren Abercrombie, and Barb Charles 25-year: Judy Marsh, Susan Nichol and Pam White 20-year: Vi Herrington 15-year: Jan Greenglass 10-year: Jackie De Beneadto, Ann Felker, Mae Harley, Ev Metler, Wilma Parker, Donna Ripley and Nellie Scheeringa. Certificates of appreciation were presented to Lorraine Capreol, Colleen Bond, Carol Telford, Kim Sheppard and Branch President Wade Bond. Thank you to the members of the 756 Air Cadets, who were on hand to serve the meal. They did an awesome job, not one broken dish. We would also like to thank the gentlemen from the branch who helped our ladies in the kitchen: Comrades Joe Keating, Dave St. Dennis, Dave Clarke, and "Whitey" Engleby. A job well done and Comrade Engleby has the cleanest hands in all of Georgetown. On September 23rd, seven teams from Georgetown went to Erin to play euchre. It was a long day, but Georgetown did finish in a threeway tie for first place. Congratulations to Flo Carswell and Marg Stronziwilk. Judy Oerlemans and Eleanor Hurren were tied for second, along with Acton and Brampton. Winners of the Erin Draw Gerda Stefan and Judy Oerlemans. Our Ladies Auxiliary Colour Party will join with the branch for the Remembrance Day Parades on Sunday, Nov. 5th. Glen Williams: form up at the school at noon, service at the Cenotaph at 12:30 p.m. Georgetown: form up at the legion at 2:30 p.m., service at Remembrance Park at 3 p.m. Our next general meeting is Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. See you there. Enter Legion contest with Loonette & Molly The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 120 Youth Education Committee has delivered the Remembrance posters, poems and essay contest kits to all the schools. The entry deadline to the Legion, 127 Mill St. in Georgetown is Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. Judging will take place on Nov. 7 and the awards ceremony will be held on Nov. 26.
