34 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, October 20, 2006 Georgetown Seniors salute retiring co-ordinator FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre It was a beautiful October day, as the busload of seniors set out at 8:15 a.m. on October 6th in "search for the red leaf". It was a mystery trip taking us where, we had no idea. By the end of the day we had taken a boat ride from Port Severn, had a wonderful chicken dinner while on board, stopped and shopped at Drysdale Tree Farm, and onto our last stop at Downey's Family Market on Heart Lake Road. All the while we were able to appreciate the beauty of the fall colours. We are looking forward to next year's trip. If you had come to the Centre on October 12th you would have seen it bedecked in wonderful decorations and a table wonderfully ladened with all kinds of goodies. The reason was to celebrate Adriana's retirement after 12 years as co-coordinator of Acton and Georgetown Seniors' Centres. Rein Pater acted as Master of Ceremonies and called upon the Mayor of Halton Hills, Joy from Parks and Rec, and Donna from the Acton Centre to tell us what we already knew, what a great person we were losing. To make certain that we did not lose her completely, Adriana received the first Lifetime Membership ever given. In her thanks, Adriana promised to use this membership and come to check up on us. Stay well, Adriana and we hope to see you soon. This is your last reminder of the Geri Fashions Fall Sale & Show to be held Monday, October 30th at 1 p.m. You can preview the fashions from 10 a.m. till noon. Tickets are $5 and will include refreshments. Municipal Election Day is fast approaching. You may vote on November 13 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Advance polls will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, Saturday, November 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, November 8, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be three locations in Georgetown for advance voting located at Civic Centre, Gellert Community Centre, and Georgetown Market Place. Take time to learn something about your candidates and make a wise decision when you go to vote. No reason not to get out and cast your ballot. Saturday, November 18 is another very important date in the Centre calendar. Circle it on your list of things to do for that is the day of the Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale. There will be a children's table, raffle tickets, lunch and refreshments, 50/50 draw, Craft table, Penny Sale, and, of course, all that Christmas baking. Save your pennies and come out to buy, buy, buy. All profits go to help to keep the Centre open. Check the Travel desk for upcoming trips. Grant, the Travel Man, will be happy to talk to you. I am on my way over for cup of the 50 cent coffee. Maybe I'll see you there. Come out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre! Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times!
