Community groups asked Book sale to raise to update listing in Town's cash for charities community service guide On Sat. Nov. 18th, Fraser Direct is holding its 8th annual Charity Book Sale. Come and see why people Halton Hills Recreation & Parks compiles a contact listing of non-profit organizations and services, as well as recreational-based businesses for the biannual Town of Halton Hills Activity and Service Guide. This listing is a free service. A package was recently mailed out to all contacts listed in the guide calling for updates for the next 2007 spring and summer issue. If you are a new organization in town, or did not receive a mailing and regularly do so, please contact Recreation & Parks at 905-873-2601, ext. 2261. It's important that your organization return the Community Contact Listing form to Recreation & Parks at the Civic Centre so the most comprehensive and current information can be provided to residents. There is also an opportunity to advertise in the guide if your organization meets the recreational or community service based parameters of the Town's guide. Advertising space is first-come first -serve. line up at 7 a.m. with their shopping baskets, ready to run inside at 8 a.m. Organizer Al Fraser says, "What amazes me is that people come out from the city (Toronto) for this. We've been getting hundreds of calls to verify the date. Clearly, everyone loves a bargain." The sale raises approximately $25,000 for local events and charities. This year's recipients will be the Salvation Army Christmas hamper program, Cancer Assistance Service of Halton Hills, Georgetown Hospital, Links2Care youth programs in Acton, the new indoor soccer facility and Fall Fair building in Acton, and Georgetown's Homecoming 2007 project. The sale is held at 100 Armstrong Ave. in Georgetown and the doors open at 8 a.m. This year, the sale will stay open an extra hour (until 5 p.m.), to accommodate the crowds. Please remember to bring cash or cheques (no debit or charge cards accepted).
