Tree Trimming Party, Dec. 5, to kick off Georgetown Seniors' Christmas events FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre November, with its unusual amount of rainfall, is over at last. As I sit here writing this report, beautiful warm sunlight is shining in on me. It feels so good and seems to lift my mood. I guess one consoling fact is that we don't have to shovel snow. The regular November luncheon was held on Nov. 14th. Cynthia and her kitchen crew served up a delicious stew with buns and salad followed by dessert. Our thanks go out to the various lunch crews for working so hard to provide us with lunch once a month. It is a great social time for us all. They are in need of more volunteers to continue these luncheon programs. There is a possibility, that, without more help, it may be necessary to cut them down to perhaps every other month. If you are able, please volunteer to work at least one luncheon. More hands less work. What a busy place the Centre was on Saturday, Nov. 18th. That was the day of the annual bazaar. The kitchen was selling egg McMuffins, sandwiches, homemade pie, tea and coffee. Everything was a toonie. The bake table was sold out by 12:30 p.m. and the craft table was a collage of all sorts of knitted and hand made items. As always the Penny Sale Table was a popular place with something for everyone and you could win on a penny ticket. I saw a lot of people walking out with plants, toys, and puzzles all purchased at the various tables. Thanks to all the members who helped and worked in some capacity to make the bazaar a success. Wasn't it great to see and hear Adriana again? She looks wonderful and feels great. I'm sure she misses us as we miss her. Let's take a look at the December calendar. It begins with the Tree Trimming Party on Dec. 5th at 1:30 p.m. Come out to help us decorate our tree and enjoy our band and Drama Club. There will be refreshments. At 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 12th the Centre is holding its Annual Christmas Dinner. It will be a wonderful full turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Please note that it is almost full so if you have not purchased your ticket you may be out of luck. Seating is limited. What is really great about this dinner is that you do not have to work. It is being catered. Now all seniors can use the ActiVan. It is easy. Just call to register as a regular subscriber. Call 905-873-2601, extension 2617. Then call the day before you travel to make your reservations. The fare is $2 each way, door-to-door service. The van operates Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will take you anywhere you wish to go in Georgetown. Once more it is time to consider paying your membership at the Centre. The cost is still $25, which will take you from January to December 2007. Come out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre! Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the golden years!
