Georgetown Seniors Centre to hold AGM on February 13 FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Brrrrr! It is cold! I hope everyone wanting winter so badly is now happy. As for me I'm going to put my trust in Wiarton Willy and look for that early spring. Just had e-mail from a friend in Florida and I guess the weather there has been cool and rainy. As it appears, after the tornados last week, also somewhat unpredictable. *** Hope you have your ticket for the Valentine's Roast Beef Dinner and Dance at the Centre this Saturday, Feb. 10. Dress in your red, drag out your valentine (if you have one) and come out for good fun and food. Drive away your thoughts of winter. Cost is $13 and dinner is at five o'clock. *** Circle February 13 on the calendar. It is an important date in the life of the Centre for it is the Annual General Meeting, your opportunity to find out what and who makes the Centre run and better still your chance to voice your opinions. If a vote is necessary, you will need to have your yellow membership card for 2007. *** About a week ago a cousin, Kara Lee, from Winnipeg, contacted me. She is into doing a family tree on the Riehl family. I have spent the last few days gathering information to send her and am finding out first, how interesting it is, and how intricate the tree can be. Now if you have the slightest interest in your family's history and find out how far back in history you can go make sure you sign up for the genealogy class. The co-ordinator of the class is Bernie Bradner. He is very knowledgeable about genealogy and knows all the places to look and dig for information. For $20, to cover costs of materials you too can become a genealogy sleuth. It starts Monday, Feb.19. Sessions begin at 1 p.m. *** Attention all you 55 + bowlers out there. Here is a chance for you five-pin, 10-pin, and lawn bowlers to keep your arm and skill in top shape. Come out and join the Senior Centre and try out our carpet bowling. Two games for only a loonie and you can do this twice a week, on Monday and Friday mornings. The companionship alone is enough to keep you coming back. You will find the technique of carpet bowling a challenge. With a mix of ladies and men, the teams are randomly picked. If you enjoy bowling at all levels, you will enjoy carpet bowling. Come out some Monday or Friday morning at 9 a.m. and give it a try. What have you got to lose? *** As I put this article together, Grant is still in the Georgetown Hospital. I'm sure he would like some company. Must get awfully boring for someone used to walking all over. *** I am sorry to report that coffee prices at the Centre have increased to 75 cents a cup but still includes two cookies with it. A good, hot cup of coffee is just what you need to warm the cockles in this frigid weather. *** The Menz Choir from Norval is looking for members. They meet Monday evenings at the Norval United Church at 7:30 p.m. Come out and lift your voice in song. They will be happy to see and hear you. Come on out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre! Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times!
