ENTERTAINMENT Youthful enthusiasm marks GLT's latest offering TED BROWN Staff Writer Everyone loves a good murder mystery. And it appears the stage of John Elliott Theatre was the scene of the crime as Georgetown Little Theatre opened Rehearsal for Murder Thursday night. The plot is a play within a play, and centres around playwright Alex Dennison bringing together a group of actors who were present a year previously, when his fiancé, Monica Welles, fell to her death from her apartment window in an apparent suicide after lukewarm reviews of the play she was the lead in, on opening night. Alex refuses to accept the suicide verdict, and is determined to find her killer. To do so, he reassembles the group under the guise of working on a brand new play entitled "Killing Jessica", and using scenarios that mirrored events that happened a year before, leading up to Monica's death, he exposes numerous motives to isolate her killer from the others in the group. John Wallace plays Alex Dennison and delivers a solid performance as the determined playwright. At times, Wallace outshines the rest of the cast, with his acting talent. Playing Monica Welles was Christina Noguera. Noguera portrayed her character with lots of enthusiasm, and was believable as the ill-fated actress. Tyler Buist plays the old theatre custodian Ernie (as well as Mr. Santoro) and Alexis Eastman handles the part of Dennison's sunny disposition assistant Sally Bean. Patti Caruso played the part of pompous flamboyant producer Bella Lamb, and Lisa Rasanen took on two parts, as a police officer and as Loretta. Jessica Lee portrayed shallow actress Karen, and Brandon Laxton played the part of the somewhat stiff actor Lloyd. Marcel Jordan played lady's man actor David, and Gary McIlravey handled the part of Leo, a somewhat easily influenced actor who was involved with Karen. Dwayne Mailman took on the part of Frank Heller, and Adam Norton was police officer Lt. McElroy. Rehearsal for Murder is certainly not one of GLT's better efforts. The play itself is not good material, filled with numerous problems in continuity, credibility and a couple red herrings thrown in for good measure. See GLT, pg. 22
