ENTERTAINMENT Castaways Comedy Theatre to open The Amorous Ambassador next week Castaways Comedy Theatre of Halton Hills presents The Amorous Ambassador, at the John Elliott Theatre, February 22, 23, and 24. It's the story of an American ambassador who can't resist the British beauties. Hampered in his philandering attempts by a nosy butler, a scatter-brained secretary and a mad marine corps colonel, the ambassador has his hands full, trying to spend a romantic evening with his sexy next door neighbour. This is the follow up to last year's The Sensuous Senator but you don't need to have seen the first one to enjoy The Amorous Ambassador. It stands alone, with plenty of mistaken identities and naughty innuendos, plus an unexpected surprise ending that you'll never see coming. Curtain is at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Feb. 24. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors at the Box Office, 905-877-3700 Members of the Castaways Comedy Theatre rehearse for their latest production, The Amorous Ambassador, opening at the John Elliott Theatre, Feb. 22. to reserve. Musicians wanted for Halton-wide band Local amateur musicians invited to join Halton's newest the Milton Concert Band (MCB)-- a new community concert band set to launch its inaugural season this month. The band will be made up of adult amateur musicians from Milton and surrounding areas and expects to perform about three times a year with a least one free outdoor concert per year. Brass, woodwinds, percussion and rhythm section members needed to perform a variety of music from Broadway to Big Band, Classical to Contemporary. The band expects to begin rehearsals in February on Thursdays, 8-10 p.m. One of the band's co-founders, Karen Sexton explains why MCB appeals to its members. "Some of us have been out of school a long time. Some of us have just graduated. We come from every demographic and occupation. We miss the energy and excitement of an ensemble. Most importantly, we miss having a reason to practise and a venue where we can perform. For our members, MCB fulfills a need to keep their talent alive." Comprised mainly of adult amateur musicians from all over Halton Region, the band's mission will be to provide area residents with an opportunity to enjoy and perform great music right here in their own community. Exceptional students of secondary schools and/or music institutions may also be considered for membership, if sections need to be filled. Interested musicians should contact the band at miltonconcertband@gmail.com or 416-508-6106 for information on membership registration.
