Just a reminder, the annual general meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. There will be an election of officers. You have to be a member to vote, but the meeting is open to anyone who might be interested. If you haven't renewed your membership yet, or are planning to join the centre, please do so before the AGM if possible. It was nice to see a man playing bid euchre on Thursday afternoon. Welcome Robert. Not only did he enjoy playing, but was also the only person with a mooner. Ruth was busy knitting again this Thursday between games and she would like to say "thank you" to the generous ladies who donated wool and even offered to knit for her. The line dancing classes will be returning to the Acton Seniors Centre on March 7 at 1:30 p.m. I must say it was a pleasure dancing on the lovely wooden floor at St. Alban's Church hall. All the dancers would like to express their thanks to St. Alban's for allowing us to have several sessions there. We really need to see more people out. If we don't get more members each week, it will have to be cancelled. Darts is up and running again on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m. When I am at the centre on a Monday morning, I can always hear them laughing and enjoying themselves. They don't seem to take it too seriously. Of course, there are other indoor sports at the centre including carpet bowling on a Monday afternoon and shuffleboard on a Friday morning. Of course, there is always a good crowd for the bingo on Friday afternoons after the lunch. As the end of February approaches we start to think spring. There is a trip planned on Monday, March 19 to the Royal Botanical Gardens to see the spring bulbs, orchids, cacti and Mediterranean plants blooming. The trip organiz- ers have allowed some time for you to explore the gift shop. Then it's all aboard to the White Meadows Sugar Bush Farm for a pancake luncheon and entertainment, followed by a maple syrup demonstration. The next stop is Kittling Ridge Winery where you will be treated to some samples of their famous wines while Eileen entertains you with amazing stories about the winery. We are starting to receive those dreaded T4 slips and statements in the mail. We will have to start thinking about filing our income tax returns. On March 27 there will be a free income tax clinic at the centre. More details in a week or so as to who is eligible to use this service. Grace Lucas, one of our newer members discovered it's worth belonging to the Acton Seniors Centre as she won the 50/50 draw of $439.50. So we start over again!
