Get a tree, some compost or a rain barrel Celebrate Earth Day April 28 at Trafalgar Road Works Yard Residents are invited to join in the town's Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Robert C. Austin Works Yard, 11620 Trafalgar Road. Approximately 1,400 trees will be sold at the subsidized rate of $5/tree with a limit of four per person until 10 a.m. Free wood chips and compost will be available but people must bring their own containers and shovels. The Region of Halton will be providing a drop-off location for used electronics recycling as well as a residential tire drop off. Environmental displays by local groups, advice from Master Gardeners, entertainment and refreshments will also be available. People are asked to please donate non-perishable food items or make a cash donation for the food bank. The Town of Halton Hills will also be selling rain barrels at a discounted price of $50 per barrel. There is a limit of one barrel per household and it must be paid for in cash. There are no rain checks. Residents are responsible for transporting any purchased barrels from the Town yard at the time of purchase. The re-conditioned, recycled plastic foodgrade barrels come with a with a metal tap and 45-gallon capacity.
