The awards winners were Kurtis Armour Kurtis Armour has been involved with the Open Door Youth Centre over the last two years. The centre provides a variety of activities, events and resources to improve the quality of life for youth. Kurtis volunteers during his lunch hour break by helping run the snack bar and taking stats from program participants. He is a polite, compassionate and well-mannered individual. When he attends the program he shows the highest level of respect and leadership towards his peers and staff, making him a great role model for youth in the community. Carly Bravo Carly Bravo has made valuable contributions to the Georgetown Little Theatre. She became involved with the company at age 12 when she acted in a Shakespearean play. Over the last four years she has acted, organized workshops, been an assistant stage manager, volunteered her time with the Senior company and co-ordinates the company's Youth group. Currently she has taken on the demanding role of co-producer for this year's youth group production, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Tyler Buist Tyler Buist sits on the executive council for the Georgetown Little Theatre company, has taken on the role of sound director, head graphic designer, and is acting in and co-producing this year's youth production. Robin Jupiter, 20, of Acton had the crowd rocking at the MYAC Coffee House held at the Starlight Cafe in Acton on Sunday, May 6 to kick off International Youth Week. Photo by Jon Borgstrom Emily Dimytosh Emily received the Maggie Connolly Youth Recognition Award, presented by the Halton Regional Health Department. Emily currently attends Christ the King Secondary School where she is president of the school's Club Green, social convenor of Student Council and member of the Improvisation team, Student Athletics Association and Halton Catholic District School Board Student Senate. She volunteers in the library, has been a peer tutor and an All-Star Reading Buddy Coach at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, as part of a program to promote literacy. Emily Dobson Emiy Dobson is the secretary for the Youth Company at the Georgetown Little Theare, has always been available to step in to assist with the Senior program. She is a trained lighting director under the late Tony Durant and has been an invaluable problem solver, backstage worker and an informative for the company's many members. Heather MacKinnon Heather serves as the elected youth trustee for Halton Hills and Milton on the Halton Catholic District School Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing the school board's mission, goals, programs and board policies for the more than 28,000 students who attend schools in the municipalities of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville area. She is actively involved with Holy Cross Catholic Parish and was responsible for organizing and running a successful fundraiser for cancer research this year. Thank You Georgetown!!!
