20 Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 A Bulldogs relegated to last place despite respectable 3-3 record A 3-3 record so far for the Halton Hills Bulldogs in the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Jr. B season seems decent enough but it's good for last place in what may be the toughest of the province's six divisions. An 11-9 loss in Barrie on Sunday night brought the Bulldogs back to the .500 mark after they had set a franchise record by shutting out the Cornwall Celtics in Acton on Saturday 19-0. Goalie Colton Horan played the full 60 minutes and didn't concede a goal for the first shutout in the team's history. Yet the Halton Hills side trails first-place Mimico (6-0), Oakville (5-01) and Mississauga (4-1-1) in the OLA's South East Division and all three of its losses came after they held leads heading into the third period. "So close, but yet so far," said Bulldogs' GM Mike Hancock. "I hate to use a cliché like that but we really are that close. The silver lining is I know these guys will work through it and begin to string together 60 minutes. With the work ethic they have shown through camp, I know it's going to come along sooner rather than later." The Bulldogs also appeared to have their game in hand at Mimico on Thursday, leading 7-3 over the front-runners after 40 minutes, only to let the Mounties rally for an 8-7 victory. No scoring information was available from that contest. In the rout of Cornwall, Reed Board (3), Greg Henry (2), Kyle Davis (2), Pat Saunders (2), Braden Artem (2), Evan Whillans (2), J.J. Laforet, Matt Laidlaw, Mike Brown, Adam McGourty and Kyle Andrews tallied for the Bulldogs. McGourty (2), Matt Laidlaw (2), Brandon Goodfellow, Henry, Davis, Nic Grasby and Brown scored versus Barrie. Also last week, the Bulldogs acquired lefthander Pat Saunders from their Jr. A affiliate in Brampton. A second-round 2006 draft pick of the Excelsiors, Saunders had six goals and seven assists in 16 games with the Elora Mohawks in his rookie campaign. This week, the Bulldogs will host Huntsville on Thursday beginning at 8 p.m. and then travel to Oakville Friday to take on the Buzz. The Buzz has moved its home games to the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. nnouncing...
