Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 13 New and improved Michael Hauver and his wife Jennifer, along with son Tayden, 2, threw a barbecue for their neighbours on Churchill Cres. last week to celebrate the completion of their new home. The Hauvers have spent the past year building the home at 30 Churchill Cres. after razing it last March (below). Neighbours had complained for years about the condition of the property before the Hauvers stepped in, bought the house, and begain reconstruction. They hosted the barbecue to thank their neighbours for their patience as they completed the new home. A public information centre will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 6-8 p.m. at the Halton Hills Civic Centre. The drop-in format will give the public an opportunity to review the progress of the Cedarvale Well Field Expansion Class Environmental Assessment. Since 2004, a number of studies have been undertaken to assess the impact of taking more water from the Cedarvale well field-- one of the primary well fields to service urban Georgetown. If approval is granted for the increased water-taking, then the Georgetown Water Purification Plant, also located in Cedarvale Park, would require a treatment system expansion, and an EA is currently under way about this as well. The treatment plant also requires a number of operational upgrades, including standby power, reservoir modifications, new workshop, office space and meeting/training room, and replacement of the high-life pumps. If the go-aheads are given for both projects, more water might be available for more development by possible by 2008 or 2009. The first phase could be about 500 single detached equivalents (SDEs) and the second phase could be about 1,500 SDEs (but would require a expansion to the water treatment plant) and the third phase of 700 SDEs would require approval of a new well in Cedarvale.
