Again this week it is oar sod and sor- rowful duty to chronicle the death of an old inhabitant and for many years a prominent business man of Flesherton, in the person of Mr. John Henry Heard, senior member of the firm of •). H, Heard jc Sons. Although Mr. Beard had been unwell, his illness was not thought to be serious and when the news was given out Monday forenoon that hs bad passed away itprovedashock to his many friends. Mr. Heard had been in business in Flesh- erton since 18G0. He was boru in Corn- wall, England, in the year 1830, and was therefore 74 years of age. He came to Canada when 2G years of age, and took up his abode in Darlington, where he re- mained for four years, the last two of which he was in business for himself. In the spring of 1800 he catne to Flesherton and began his trade of blacksmithing. After erecting a house he went back to Darlington and married Mis* Catharine White, who survives him, and in June of that y«ar brought bis bride home.
