Sproule, one of the promi- nent business men of Flesherton, passed away en Sunday evening at the age of 81 years, after only one > week's illnes?. The deceased gentleman r3 the last of the old time business men left, he having come to Flesherton from Siog- hamptoii in 1871. Born in King town- ship, when a young man ha moved with his family to Maxwell, where he clerked i.i a store in the early days, also working for a time In Singhampion. While in the latter place he married Sarah lotten of Fine Grove, in 1870, by whom he had two children Ada (Mrs. Geurae Higainboihan)) and Fred, both now of Winnipeg. lir. Sproule died in 1884, leaving her two youns; children and a bust and deroted to bar memory as a model wife aud mother. Mr. Sproule never married again. In Fleaherton he ran a general store and boughc grain. Liter years he conducted a conveyancing ad insurance business and remained in hirnees until a week ago, when he was stricken with pneumonia. Russell plant, when James Agncw, an employee, had a miraculous escape from death when caught in the belt that drives the conveyor. As Mr Agncw was alone at the time, the real facts of the case arc not known to us, but it is thonght that while cleaning the ice oft a pulley, and working around the hopper that is used in loading the cars his foot must have slipped and his left arm was caught be- tween the belt and the pulley. The injured man was rushed to the hospital and for a time some small hope was entertained for his recovery, but just us we go to press we learn that he passed away at 9. 45 this morning. -Durham Chronicle Rink Co.
