Beatty of 121 St. George street, while trolling for lake trout near the Beatly summer home near Wnwa- taysee, on the Georgian Bay. Mr. and ' Mrs. Beatty and Miss Isnbell Drew of Gu,;lph, were in a small skiff, homeward bound from the shoals where the lake trout are beginning their autumn run, and Mrs. Beatty wa.i reeling in her line bait- ed for the trout, which run from Ave to fifteen pounds, when the monstrous lunge seized hold. The party had no gaff with them, and after a great battle succeeded in landing the lunge on « shore, where they hnule<I it high and dry, the tackle holding and there despatched it. The lunge, four days after its cap- ture, weighed in Toronto forty-two pounds. This would make its ring- side weight in the neighborhood of fifty pounds, a splendid weight which is rarely if ever rnet with in Ontario waters nowadays. The great fish is being mounted as a trophy.
