About three weeks before his death he suffered a stroice, from which he never re- covered.. Tho funeral took place on Thurs- day afternoon, January 19, and was very largely attended, notwithstanding the terrible weather of sleet and rain. Rev. Mr. Fred Plewis held a very succ- Severe Snow Storm Until Friday last autos were run- ning between Toronto and Owen Sound. On Thursday it began to rain, and this continued until nine p.m., when the wind veered to the north-west, becoming a gale, and a driving snow storm set in. This continued all day Friday and complet-n ely blocked the highways for motor traffic. It was the most severe snow storm of the season, and tho wind velocity made it much more ser- ious. The hydro lines from Msrk dale to Owen Sound were put out of commission for several hours. This storm was followed by a sudden drop in temperature, the mercury falling to 10 below zero. The public school in town was closed on Wednes- day last for ten days, as a precau- tionary measure, although there were not any cases in the school. Since then only one new case has been re ported, and it is believed that the epidemic is under control. Ten houses were under quarantine in town and the ban will be lifted on Monday of next week. Both high* and publi< schools will he reopened that day Jan. 30th.
