Don't forget the Garden Party of the United Church on Thursday, Aug- u.st 16th, on the school grounds. Blue Bell orchestra of Durham. Prize Win- ning play presented by the young people of Holland Centre Club. Win- ners for North Grey Baseball match between Onward and Fleshcrton Club. Game to commence at 0:30; Horse- shoe pitching, etc. Admission 50 and 25 cents. Everybody come. Mr. and Mr-. Fred Runciman and daughter Mary; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Runciman of Toronto are visiting friends in Priceville. The Presbyterian Garden Party on Wedne.oday night was a decided success. The night was ideal and a large crowd wa-, present. $300 was realized at the gates. The Brunswick Trio were the entertainers. Bag Pipe music was given by Donald McDonald of Toronto, football be- tween Feversham and Swinton Park which resulted in a tie. Singhampt- on were the winners in a baseball game between Onward and Singhamp- ton. Congratulations to Mr. Jack Mc- Meekin, who was married on Satur- day to Miss Nellie Haw of Swinton Park, daughter of Mr. Geo. Haw. Miss Eva Carson returned to To- ronto on Monday after spending a week at her home. The Sacrament of the Lord's Sup- per was dispensed of on Sunday morning, when a large crowd was present. < Miss Catharine Chaise i« visiting at Mr. Peter Muir's. Durham road late Wednesday af- ternoon was the scene of another car accident, but this was much near- er Durham than the former accidents. Mr. Robert McCo-.'.;ey, Postmaster of Priceville, with Mrs. McConkey and young son, were motoring to Dur- ham, and coming (,nto Durham bridge at Darkies' Corn!:rs, east of town, collided with Wulkerton Creamery truck, going the opposite way. Mr. McConkey's car wai badly bruised and battered while Mrs. McConkey re ceived a gash in her head, which re- quired eight stitches to close. She is resting nicely in Durham hospital. Mr. McConkey and son escaped in- jury. There were some good games last I week. On Monday night Victoria Corners and Maxwell played a six in-, ning game with a 2-2 score. This] game will be replayed on Wednesday j evening at 6:30 o'clock. On Wed- nesday night the Maxwell team defeat ed Rock MilU team quite easily, and then on Saturday night the Kimberley | nine tried to put the Onwards in the â-  discard, but failed to do so by the score of 6-2. The games this week are: Wednesday, Victoria Corners vs. Flesherton at 6:30 and practice for the picked men's team on Friday I night, then on Saturday night the Kimberl«y and Onwards will agam hook horns. Harry Kelso caught a large fish; indeed the largest salmon trout captured at Lions Head in 40 years. The beauty was caught Monday. It weighed 34 pounds, length was three feet, eight inches, the girth two feet, four inches and the head measured 10 inches. - MAXWELL The W. L met at the home of Mrs. Alex. Morrison on Thursday last and it was decided to hold a grandmother's day the second Thursday in Septem- ber. Mr. Douglas Kendell gave an interesting talk on child welfare work, dealing with baby clinics, juvenile courts and settlement work. The hostess then served lunch and a social hour was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Duckett and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Benning- ton spent the week end at Barrie. Mr. ad Mrs. Pole of Sarnia are vis iting at the home of Mr. Louis Kerton. Mr. and Mrs. A. Long and daughter, Irene, of Toronto and Mr. and Miss Bramhall of Ohsawa were recent vis- itors at the homes of Mrs. D. Long and Mr. Chas. Long. Mr. Angus Morrison of Toronto spent the week end at his home here. Mr. Douglas Kendell ha-^ returned home after a short holiday. Mrs. Wilbert Poole is spepnding a few days with her mother, Mrs. H.
