The Women's Institute will hold a social evening Tuesday of this week at the home of Mrs. Geo. Snell at 8 p.m., when the lucky ticket will be drawn on the Dresden Plate quilt. There are still a few tickets for sale. Miss Nellie Genoe 's spending some time at Eugenia. Mr. and Mrs. II. Bailey and family, Shrigley and Mr. and Mrs. M. Raney, Southampton, visited over the week end with Mrs. D. Macphail. Congratulations to Charlie Mc Will- iam, Billy Marshall and Emerson Plester, who have passed the entrance on their year's work. Mrs. Tew. Wingham, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. I. B. Whittaker. VICTORIA CORNERS CENTRELINE Mrs. Elva Robinson and son Don- ald visited recently at Milton Ban- non's. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Killins and son (Jonlon of Smithville, on their way to Ciavenhurst called at Charlie Moore's. Chas. and Mrs. Moore and Ted accompanied them on their re- turn. The Killins are remaining for a few days. Rev. Mr. Scott of Flesherton ad- ministered sacrament June 21 at In- istoge. On Sunday June 28, Rev. Mr. Pointen is to preach his farewell sermon. We are sorry to lose. Mr. Pointen. We have found his labor among us very helpful and pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Port Rowan and Mrs. J. Robinson, Hamilton vis- ited at Milton Bannon's. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Linton and Mr. and Mrs. Rrnie Stewart visited at Mr. and Mrs. Albert Reed's. Mrs. Wm. Talbot and family were in Toronto on Saturday. John returned home with them from the normal school. Mrs. Earl Walton and family visited at the home of her parents, Wm. Acheson. Billy Batchclor has been very ill with quinsy but is better. Lightning again visited our burg, this time it killed a beast belonging to Milton Bannon. The weather still keeps cool and very dry. Rain is badly needed in this vicinity. We had a hard frost recently that blackened the leaves on beans and other tender plants. Miss Thelma Jack is visiting her sister Mrs. Emerson Gallagher. Mrs. Jas. Linton and son Jack vis- ited friends in Eugenia and Meaford last week. Mrs. Angus Tuohy of Meaford is visiting her sistcd, Mrs. Florence Lyons. Mount Zion Sunday school picnic will l)e hijjd en Thursday, July 2nd. Mr. Leo. Patton of London visited with Jack and Fred Linton recently. Mr. Sam Osborne of Markdale and Robt. Osborne started this Monday morning to build a stone wall for Mr. W. McNally's new bam. It is complained that Mayor G. G. McOeer, M.P. has been using his franking privilege to distribute pub- licity for Vancouver's jubilee. Earl Browndridgc son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brown- ridge of Maxwell, Osprey Township. Grey county died in St. Michael's hos- pital, Toronto, on June 23rd, aged 41 vears and 11 months, after under- going an operation for mastoids on June 1st. The operation appeared to have been successful for some time, but other complications set in and though everything possible was done, he failed to survive. He was born on the Fourth Line of Osprey, south of Maxwell, and attend- ed Maxwell school. He joined the 147th battalion in 1916 and served as a signaller. He returned home In 1017 and since then has been with the staff at the Union Station post office as postal clerk. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, formerly Irene Holmes of Owen Sound, and one daughter, lona, also one sister. Mrs. C. S. Hawton, oi Rtayner, and one brother. Lance, of Maxwell.
