Dr. Mercer of Maxwell ex- changed pulpits with Mr. Buchanan on Sunday and had reception and Sacrament services at New England, Epping and Kimberley, also a bap- tismal service, when the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Soul was bap- tized. Fourteen united with the Kimberley church. A number attended, at Thornbury, the shower given to Mr. Chas. Lin- coln and Miss E. Cripps, whose marriage took place in Toronto on Saturday. We wish the couple much happiness. Mr. Dalton Ferguson is home for a couple of weeks. Mrs. M. Cook and Mr. Allen Ferguson of the H.E.P.C visited their mother on Sunday. Mrs. Ferguson is under the doctor's care with a very sore eye. Miss Jackson and Miss Orlie Kirkpatrick of Markdale hospital spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kirkpatrick. Mr. Montgomery and eight others are busy practising their play 'Don't Darken My Door Again,' 1 to be given about Nov. 28th. Mrs. Buchanan has as guests this week, her aunt, Mrs. Carson, and cousin, Mrs. House and David, from Niagara-on-the-Lake. Miss Leota Gilbert spent the week end with Kimberley friends. Guard Ezra Fawcett and friend spent tha week end here. (Intended for Last Week) Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Steer and son, Harold, and Mrs. Jas. Acheson of Dundalk were guests of Mrs. Geo. Hutchinson. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Burritt visited Kim'berley friends Tuesday. Mrs. W. Fehr returned with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thompson, A. C. and Jimmy, of Barrie visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Burritt and Mrs. C. Thompson. The "pot luck" supper on Friday night turned out to be a good luck supper and also the program after. $27 was taken in, with only a few dollars in expenses. Mr. and Mrs. Erank Smith and family visited over the week end with Mrs. G. Hutchinson, Milton and Tena. Rev. Taylor of the British and Foreign Bible Society, gave a very interesting talk in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. E. H. Toung presiding. Mrs. Chas. Thompson is visiting this week at Barrie with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thompson. It is with deep regret we learn of the resignation of Rev. E. H. Young from the Thornbury and Kimberley Baptist churches. We feel we have been greatly bneflted by fellowship here. We wish him God's blessing at Hanover, where he is moving in the near future. A short memorial service was con- ducted by Rev. W. Buchanan Friday night. Mrs. Jas. Lawrence unveiled the wreath placed by the memorial tablet. Pilot Officer Jimmy McKee of Thornbury spent several days on a trip north. We were very sorry to learn of the death of D. B. Russell. We sin- cerely sympathize with the bereaved family. VANDELEUR There was a generous response in this community to the canvas in aid of the British War Victims' Fund. The local canvassers were: George Buchanan on the Meaford Road and Howard Graham on the 12th. A well attended meeting of the Girls' Club was held at the hom e of Miss Dorothy Kelso on Tuesday af- ternoon last. The president, Miss Irene Fawcett, presided over an in- teresting program, which was follow- ed by the election of officers. Miss Hazel Morrison is the new president. Mr. Harold Button attended the Western Ontario Shorthorn sale at Stratford recently and purchased s fine Scotch Shorthorn heifer. Mrs. F. R. Boland spent a week with friends at Caledoh. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham and Ruth and Miss May Graham attend- ed the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Burnett in Markdale recently. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sewell and Car- man and Miss Belle Hutchinson vis- ited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Pendleton and family of Cherry Grove. Local residents learned with regret of the tragic death of D. G. (Derby) Russell of Dundalk. Derby was the catcher for the Dundalk baseball team back in the early twenties, He was a good sport. Mr. and Mrs. John Shier visited friends at Mt Zlon. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham and Ruth visited friends at Shrigley. P R I CEV1 L L E A miscellaneous shower was held Friday night last at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neal McKinnon, in honot of Mr. and Mrs. Neal McKinnon Jr., who were recently married. Music was supplied for dancing by Mr. and Mrs. T. McDougal, Leonard Mc- Keown, Neal McKinnon Jr., Neal Mc- Kinnon Sr. and Bill McKechnie. Several of the guests entertained by step dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. McKinnon, Sadie and Jean, all of Toronto, were up for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Hector McLean vis- ited with their son, Gilvray, and wife in Hamilton. Mrs. Thos. Nichol IB visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. A. Mclntyre, at Mclntyre. Mr. and Mrs. John McFarlane and son, Colin, and Alex. McLean of To- ronto spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Colin McLean. Mrs. Jack Whyte and two children are visiting for a few days at Harriston. Pte. Mike Sawchuk of Toronto and Pte. Walter Sawchuk of Brant- ford spent the week end with their parents, and sister, Alice. Winnifred and Rosi McConkey of Toronto visited over the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McConkey. Mrs. E. Curdt spent the week end with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Whyte. L.A.C. Tom Aldcjrn of Guelph vis- ited with his mother, Mrs. William Aldcorn. Mrs. Alex. Carson and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Halliday, Mt. Forest, vis- ited Wednesday with Mrs. D. G. McLean. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Ale-Arthur and Eleanor spent Sunday in Mt. Forest with her sister, Mrs. E. Bennett. Mr. Donald Carson and friend of Toronto spent Sunday with his parents. Friday last the pupils and children in the section were innoculated for diphtheria in Priceville school by Dr. Milne. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Magee and Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Carson were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Art Richard- son, Swinton Park, at a fowl dinner on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Nichol and boys visited Sunday at Mclntyre. Mrs. T. Nichol, who has been visiting there, returned home with them. Detective in Toronto was convicted of drunk driving and sent to jail for sevn days. EAST MOUNTAIN Mr. Morris Welsh of Toronto spent a day recently with friends here. A number from here attended the fowl supper at Kimberley by the L.O. L. on Friday night. Master Bobbie McMullen spent a few days recently with his cousin, Bobbie Long, at Plesherton. Mrs. J. A. Lever, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. Mc- Mullen, returned to her horn* at Flesherton. Mr. Len Haines of Toronto spent the week end at his home here. Mrs. Raines accompanied him back for week. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ward of Dun- can visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Art Idle. Mr. Gordon McMullen leaves this week for Baysville where he will work in the bush.
