XOTICE TO KMPLOYERiii AIVD THEIR MALE EMPLOYEES By an order signed on August 15th, 1944, by the under- signed Minister of Lui>our under authority of National Selective Servire Mohilization Regulations; n X, Coniinenring Aiiguiti 22nd, 1944^ every employer h required to check the docuniciite held hy cuch newly engaged mule ciuployce, within 7 days of the 4 eiiiployi'f'H ciigugeinent, to determine if such eniployee pohMiss documents to •how thai he is in good standing under Nalionul Selective Service Mobilization UcgulatioiiK (lliut in, in relation to the Military Call-up); 2. Every employer must report on Schedule 9 to the Registrar for his Mobilization Diviftion, concerning any employee found not to possess docu- ments as refercrd to: 3. Every employer is required stmi> larly to check ihe documents held by each male employee newly engaged between May 1st, 1944, and August 22nd, 194-i, and to report to the Regis- trar for his Mukilizution Division by August 29th, 1914, on any such em- ployee found not to possess documents as referred to; 4. Any male employee here referred to, is requirie<l by the Regulations to present his documents to his employer for purposes of inspection; S- Penalties are provided for any em- ployer or male employee who fails to comply with these Regulations. By an earlier order, employers were required to check die documents held by their male employees, and to report by May Ist. 1944, on doubtful cases as well as cases where employees did not possess documents. The procedure for the present con- tinuing check, although being notified to employers in '^Notice to Employers and their Male Employees", which is now being mailed, is identical with that set forth in "Employers' Guide"* which covered the check made before May Ist, 1944. EmpUtyert are asked to remember that they do not report on men tvho do poxsett the necessary documents â€" only on tho$» tcho fail to present documents for examination, or where there Is doubt that the document presented actually proves good standing. k The employers of Canada co-operated very satisfactorily on the first check, made up to May 1st last. This co-operation was decidedly helpful, and is very much appreciated. Further Co- operation is now earnestly requested. Schedule 9 and details as to documents which prove good standing, are available through the Employment and Selective Service Offices, NATIOIVAL SELECTIVE SERVICE \ HUMPHREY MITCHELL Minitler of Labour MacNAMARA Director, National Selective Service D.W-<l-(-44| An old man ami his wife wert standinjr before tlie pen looking at their only pii;, whi-n the old lady said: "Say, John, it will be our silver â- wedding to-morrow. A demand for C grade poultr}^ however, is definite- ly lacking-. We, therefore, advise you to properly finish your birds, whether you sell them alive or ; [â-  dressed, in order to secure top prices. This year the production of poultry is exception- ally heavy. It is advisable for you to finish your birds and begin marketing them early and at reg- ular intervals, in order to aboid too heavy a supply at any one time. Right now we are dressing poultry. You may- sell your poultry to us alive or have us dress them for you and pay you on dressed basis. Patrons are requested to co-operate in bringing their cream to the dreamery by 10 p.m. on open nights, otherwise cream wUl not be tested until the following day.
