Canadian teachers want a stand- ard certificate acceptable in every province. Mr. Hannah, manager of the local branch of the Bank of Toronto, is now back at work, after being ill at his home for some weeks. The Ladies' Aid met at the honit of Mrs. Heitman, with a fair attend ance. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. J. Crawford the roll call to be answered by a Mother's Day verse. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Colquette of Owen Sound were visitors at the McKee and Alexander homes here. Mr. and Mrs. George Matthew and family of CoUingwood visited at the homes of Mrs. Freethy and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Light. Ken in- tends leaving for Ottawa nept week and wll be greatly missed in the Y.PiS., church and choir, where he was always willina: to take an active part. He was completely taken by surprise, but voiced his appreciation for the lovely gift. The Federated Farm Women met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Beaton, when a quilt was finisher for one of the war brides. A dozen towels were sent to Mrs. Nuhn's Nursing Home, Flesherton. Consid- erable business was dealt with. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neun of To- ronto spent the week end with his brother, Elmer Neuo. The latter accompanied them back for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sturrock and Archie attended the funeral of a cousin, Mr. Archie Ferguson, at Mt. Forest on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carson and family are moving this ^^^< to tho house on the hlgh%vay owned by Mr. Percy Sims. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Carson and family are moving from Priceville to the Carson farm on the north line. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Sims S]»8nt Sunday with their daughter at Fergus. Priceville residents are pleased to have a blacksmith. Mt- Smith, from Toronto commence business here. We wish him every success. Mr. Archie McLean was hostess on Tuesday to the W.M.S. and W. H., with a good attendance. Mrs. Say- ers, Mrs. Wm. Beaton and Mrs- Wm. Brown each gave interesting papers. Mrs. D. L. McArthur conducted a contest. We are pleased to hear that Wes- ley Jamieson, who has been in the Toronto Genera] Hospital for the past few months, is continually Im proving in health. Mrs. Haney, who returned to hei home a week ago, is gradually re- covering. Mrs. T. Fenwick of Owen Sound is assisting her at present. We are sorry to report Mr. L. Lat imer in the Markdale hospital. VICTORIA CORNERS The Eaater to June term of school opened on Monday morning with two teachers and two new "beginner" Miss Marjory Stevens had as hei guest a Toronto Normal School stu- dent. Miss Marguerite James ot Ravenna. The two beginners were Jack Linton, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Linton, and Bert Stinson, younger son of Mi-, and Mrs. E. A. Stinson. Monday brought to our community the bride and groom of Easter week end, Mr. and Mrs. .Archie MacMillan (Elnora Fenwick), who have taken over the farm of Mr- and Mrs. E. A. Stinson. A hearty welcome of con- gratulations and very best wishes is extended to this young couple. Miss Marjory Stevens now goes back and forth to school from hei parental home, having boarded with M(i-. and Mrs. Ernie Stewart during the blustery winter months. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Stevens also entertained Miss James, while teaching in the local school last week. Marjory, under the supervision of Rev. A. G. Macpherson. Flesherton, tried an exam last week on "Philosophy,'' paving the way for her permanent first class certificate. Mrs. Walter Acheson has been vis- iting with Mrs. Wm. Reddick and other relatives at Proton Station, and going back and forth on tht train to Mai:::"-ile to visit her hus- band who is still a patient there. We are glad to report Mr. Achesot. making quite favorable progress. Mrs. Wm. Ludlow visited on Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Ludlow at Dundalk. Mr. and. Mrs- Clarence Biggar, Owen Sound, were guests of the latter's sisters. Mrs. Archie Macv Millan and Mrs. Russell Linton, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Stinson, Don and Bert, visited relatives in Toronto over the week end. Today (Monday) at noon, we had the pleasure of listening to Princess Elizabeth as she broadcast her 21st birthday message to the people ol the British Commonwealth and En- pire fro-m Capetown, South Africa. Syrup is selling readily at $5.00 and up per gallon. Miss Helen Betts is spending a few days this week with Dr. and Mrs. Pollock of Owen Sound. .Mh-. and Mrs. Thos. Miss Eunice Dobson of Owen Sound was a recent visitor at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Johnston of Owen Sound spent Monday evening with the former's sister. Mrs. Joyce Porteous. and Mr. Porteous. The Durham Furniture Company is in readiness to commence sawing this week. Many of the old hands are back, with three new ones added to the gang. Mr. Jas.
