Mitcbell of Flesherton station, situated in C«ylon village, received a pleasant surprise this past we^ when be received a letter from Mi. C. E. Towle, Sufperintendent of the Bruce Division of the C.P.R., inform- ing him that he was awarded tihe prizie for this Division for the best fltxwer garden and neat appearance of the station and its surro<undings This was a suiTJrise to Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell and nuich appi-eciated by diem and also the substantial cheque whici> accompanied the letter. Tni» is the second time a prize has been awarded Mr. Mitchell since he has been stationed at Flesherton. We might say that the improvements to the station yard were started by Mr. Archie Sinclair of Bundalk, who re- tired recently, while he was stationed here a few years ago and has been actively carried on by Mr. Mitcbell. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell heartily agree with tie de- cision of the officials. Tbe junior girls of the Public presented an action song and CJiristmas carols were sung by Che school, with another chorus by the Public School "Toy Town Jam- boree." Part singii^ was given by the senior girls. Eev. A. G. Mac- pherson gave a short address and Jack Braekenbury. Superintendent of the School, and Bert Sparks, secre- tary-treasurer, gave the Sunday School report and presented prizes to the pupils. A pageant "Whence O Shepherd Maiden?" and a play "No Room in The Inn" were well present- ed numbers. Mr. P. S. MacDougall was an efficient chairman. The final item on the program was the an-ival of Santa Glaus and the handing out of the gifts to the child- ren, wiio received them in various ways, some of them being scared and others awed by his presence. The jolly old fellow was in perfect form and enjoyed bimself as much as the kiddies did. Kennedy, Shelbunie. in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Heard. Swinton Park, the occasion being the Ktb anniversary of their wedddlng. The table was nicely decorated with the wedding cake, candles and 'mums. The couple were recipient of some very pretty and useful silver gifts. A very enjoyable evening was spent in music, cards and happy reminis- censes. Mr- and Mrs. R. B. Heard and Mrs. Wm. MacMillan of town were among those present for the l^PPy occasion.
