Mr. Everett* Parker is home for Chrisrtmas, after completing his fall term at the O.AjC. He intends to enter Westminster Hospital in Lon- don for an operation this week. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lawler and sons, Wes and Floyd, Mr. and iM»i-s. Art. LawJer and' boys, David and PbaiI, of Durham spent Sunday with the former's mother, Mrs. Geo. Lawler. Eh-, and Mrs. 0. E. Dr. Brewton played the saxaphone and Mrs. Brewton ren- dered a lovely contralto solo at the Cedarside Baptist Ohucrh morning service on Sunday. MacDennid Passes (By Ceylon Reporter) For tjie second time in tjhe past week the residents of tjhis small vill- age and surrounding connmunity, were saddened when they learned tfrat an- other of th^ir memibers had passed away in the person of Mrs. J. S. Mac- Deitnid in Markdale Hospital last Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, in her 59th year. Death was due to a par- alytic stroke suffered about four weeks ago. Deceased was formerly Mary Stew- art, daughter of the late Jolin and Mary Stewart, and had been a faith- ful member of the Presbyterian Ohurch, Prifceville. w'here she had taken an active interest in the ohuroh work, being an honorary member of the Women's Association, and was also interested in the Farm Women's Federation Club. The late Mrs. Mac- Dermid had been a life-long resident of this district and was a neJgWbor and friend, who made life worth-while living and her many acts of kindness will be missed by a host of friends. About ten years ago s!he was mar- ried to Mr. MacDermid, who survives, along with three children by a formor marriage, namely: Evelyn (Mrs. Don Porter) of Toronto, and two sons, Wallace, of Toronto, and Melville at Deceased leaves 21 i ^f"^^- The late Mrs. MlacDermid was the last member of a family of four brothers and' three sisters. In 1904 she was married to Archie Campbell, and resided on the 4th Line until her death. The funeral was held on Wednes- day, Dec. 171h, with a short service at her late residence, conducted by Rev. J. R. Gieig of CoUingwood, and proceeded to Bums Presbyterian Chuivh, Feveisham, where the public .service was held. The ohoir sang an anthem "No Night in Heaven." In- tennent was made in the cemetery at the ohurch. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Geo. Priestley, Clarence Winters, Jack Hislop, Dan Mclntyre, Donald Mc- Innes and' D. A. Mclntyre. (By Ceylon Reporter) There passed away Tuesday morn- ing, Dec. lOith, at her home in Ceylon, Mrs. James Knox, the former Jane Richardson of Proton Township, in her 82nd year, daug-hter of the late John and Margaret Richardson and beloved wife of the late James Knox, to whom she was married 61 years ago. Her late husband predeceased her by 31 years. Their married life was spent in Proton Township and about 26 years ago the late Mrs. Knox moved to Ceylon. She was a member of the Prealbyterian Church at Swinton Park, later attending the United Ohurch in Ceylon while health pei*mitted. Deceased took &n active part in the Ladies' Aid and in the recent war years assisted in the Red Cross and will be greatly ' missed by her many friends and neigWbors, by wihom she was held in the highest esteem. iLeft to mourn the loss of a loving mother are three daughters, Mabel ('Mlrs. Will McCormiack), Swinton Park; "Vina (Mrs. Roibt. Howat), of Alberta; Marion (Mrs. J. A. (Jill- eepie), Hopeville; and three sons, Robert, in Florida; Will, in Bowman- ville, and Alex., in Toronto. One daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Bert Haw), predeceased' her. grandchildren and seven great grand- children. Also surviving are one brother, .'^lex. Richardson, of Marik- dale and one sister, Vina (Mrs. Cran- ston") of DuTigannon. Qwin.g to weather conditions the funeral was held at 2:-30 p.m. Thurs- day, Dec. 18th, at the McMillan Fun- eral Home, Dundalk, where friends and the United Church minister of Ceylon gave a comforting message to the bereaved family. The beautiful floral tributes were silent messages of love and sympathy and were car- ried by Messrs. Jack Haw, Eric Haw, Emerson Wiltshire, Joe Watson. Interment was made in the Mortu- ary Chapel. Dundalk Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Wal- lace McCormack, Jas. McCormack, .Arthur Richardson, Ray Richardson, Gordon Haw, John Wiltshire. Those attending the funeral fi'om a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Knox, Garnet and John, of Toronto; Mr. and Msr.
