An Esquesing Man Drowned in a
Manitoba Lake
John McMillan, son of John McMillan, Sr., postmaster at Hornby, who went out to Manitoba with a surveying party a few weeks ago met an untimelty death on Saturday morning, 23rd June. It appears that he was bathing in a small lake adjacent to Pine Creek, Manitoba, and near the trail where the road forks, about sixteen miles west of McKinnon's, and where the party were encamped. He had swam across a little area of the lake about seventy feet in width, and when returning sank beneath the water very suddenly. The body was recovered. The young man was 26 years of age, unmarried, and was highly respected by all who knew him. The shock caused by the news to the family of the young man was most severe, but they have the sympathy of the whole community. - Featured Link
