Snyder, Jacob, Mrs.
- Full Text
IT IS WITH deep regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mrs. Jacob Snyder, a very old resident of Esquesing township, which took place on Friday evening. She was ill but a few days, and died at the ripe age of 75 years. Deceased came, with her husband, from Lincoln Co., about 50 years ago, and faced and overcame all the trials and difficulties incident to the early settlers. The deceased bore her full share of these, and lived and died respected by all who knew her. She was an earnest christian, very regular in her attendance of the various religious services, and her home was always a most welcome one to any who required food or shelter. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and was very largely attended. The six sons of the deceased, Messrs. Eli, Acton; William, Guelph; Henry, Walkerton; Adam, Mount Forest; Isaac, Erin, and Robert, of the old homestead, acted as bearers of the corpse at the funeral, and the scene was most affecting. "Friend after friend departs, who had not lost a friend?"
