Called Home.
Richard Newton, one of East Oxford's most prominent farmers, died this morning at his residence, "Evergreen Home," at the age of 68. He was taken ill about two weeks ago with bilious fever, which was followed by congestion of the lungs and peritonitis, and to the complication he succumbed. Mr. Newton was born in Sligo, Ireland, and was the son of the late Rev. Richard Newton. He came to Canada in his boyhood, settling in Hastings county. He came to Oxford in 1876, where he spent the rest of his life. A wife and a family of nine survive him. Deceased was a prominent member of the Methodist church, holding official relationship to it for the past fifty years. Woodstock Sentinel-Review. Deceased was the father-in-law of Rev. T. A. Moore, of Hamilton, formerly of this journal.
