Death of a Pioneer.
On Saturday about noon Mr. Stafford Zimmerman, who had been ill for several weeks quietly passed away. Mr. Zimmerman was among those who first settled in Acton, having come here with his father from Beamsville, between fifty and sixty years ago. The farm upon which Mr. James Brown's sawmill is located was the Zimmerman homestead, and for years Mr. Zimmerman, sr., operated a tannery on Main(?) street. Deceased resided nearly all his life in Acton, but spent several years in Strathroy, Erin and Guelph. He was about to remove to Manitoba, where two of the sons have resided for several years, and he was on the point of leaving when taken ill. Mr. Zimmerman was born in Beamsville in 1825. He was of quiet and retiring disposition and respected by all. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. The funeral on Tuesday was largely attended.
