Cut Off in Early Life.
The life of one of Acton's most respected young men was terminated at Guelph General Hospital last Friday under very sad circumstances. Last spring Mr. Briggs Nicklin, merchant tailor, was taken ill with a complication of troubles and the best medical skill failed in giving him permanent relief. He continued in poor health and two or three months ago was obliged to give up business. He was shortly after confined to his room and gradually grew worse. About the middle of September he was thought to be somewhat improved and was taken, to Guelph Hospital in the hope that improvement would be more rapid. For a time the change seemed to show favorable results but last Thursday all bopes were frustrated and his friends were summoned to his bedside. The spirit took its flight on Friday morning. The remains were brought home that evening and the funeral, which was very largely attended, was held on Sunday afternoon. A memorial service was held in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening when Rev. Mr. Howell preached a very impressive sermon from Ps. 22: 26, "Your heart shall live forever." Mr. Nicklin was the youngest son of Mr. Edward Nicklin, one of our eldest and most esteemed residents. He was twenty-five years of age, and leaves a wife of scarcely a year. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved young wife, and his father's family, who have been repeatedly called to mourn the departure of loved ones, the past few years.- Featured Link
